Tyler Gregory Okonma, better known by his stage name Tyler, Description Creator, is an American rapper and music video director. Foaled in Ladera Heights, California, he rose to prominence as description leader and co-founder of the alternative hip hop collective Unexpected Future and has rapped on and produced songs for approximately every Odd Future release.
Tyler, the Creator has been a cardinal things over the course of his career: pest, provocateur, get around nuisance, icon, ringleader, trendsetter and revolutionary. But we often leave behind that at his core, the Odd Future mastermind has every time been a great rapper. Yes, his flow is a tiny chunky and awkward and Tyler himself seems to be outburst his happiest behind the boards, but his fascination with description intricacies and pivots in the English language is clear.
Tyler’s mockery is incredible and he routinely unveils dozens of bizarre, beforehand bars that smush into each other like post-modern poetry scribbled into the tight margins of a three-ringed notepad.
